Customer Testimonials
The packers/loaders did an exceptional job. The unloaders also did an exceptional job.
The 'in transit' process was very disappointing. The delivery spread was 6/15/24 - 6/19/24 and went beyond that by 12 days. It put us at a great inconvenience and not satisfied with the company's communication system AND delivery system..
My hope is that those systems can be improved for future customers sake.
My move with National Van Lines was as smooth as I could ask for. We moved several states away and with National Van Lines it went exactly as planned. They picked up our household goods on time, delivered them on time and didnt raise the price from the estimate given. All of the workers were friendly and polite. Would recommend to a friend.
Joe Kim was great, and the movers in both states were pleasant and hard-working. It took 15 days for me to get my stuff, which was quite inconvenient. I had no idea my things would go into storage, assuming it would be brought to me directly from one residence to the other, so I did not pack with that in mind. Several items were broken or damaged, and my mother's cedar chest from 1939 was obviously turned on its end/side causing the interior hinges to bend and no longer be able to support the in ner tray, and causing some damage to the surface. There were a few other things like that (leg broken off a side table...) which aren't fixable and not worth making a claim since they are family heirlooms and can't be replaced. But overall it was okay--again, the personnel were lovely. I'm just naturally disappointed about the things that were damaged and about the time it took to get my things. This move was far superior to the last one in every way (in 2020), so I'm grateful for that.
Everything showed up in good condition, which is the most important thing. The cost came in right about where the estimate said it would be. The reason I can't give 5 stars is the timing. We were given a 3-day window for delivery, but after the truck was loaded we found out the driver wasn't even leaving town until the day before the window started (and it was 1,000 miles away) so there was no way to make the first day of the window. It arrived 5 days after the end of the window. We were re imbursed for hotels and 50% of food costs which is good. However, if we had been even one day late on being able to receive the delivery we would have been charged over $5,000 plus additional charges per day. Had they moved the window from the start, we could have travelled differently; as it was we had to be here just in case they arrived in the window to avoid that huge cost. Basically, we assumed all the risk in the scheduling - $5,000 to us if we are off one day, ~$150 for them if they ar e. The driver knew when he would probably get there, but the contract didn't reflect that. My recommendation would be for them to communicate with drivers better to provide more realistic expected delivery dates.
This is the second time we've used National Van Lines, and the experience was excellent. The packing, loading, and unloading processes were on time and nothing got damaged. The movers were friendly and efficient. The only minor inconvenient that we had was a discrepancy with the unloading date. We requested a change in the delivery window several weeks in advance, but due to miscommunications between different offices, this request was not recorded, and I had to call and email multiple people un til I got the same answer from everybody. This would've been fine if it hadn't been the week before our scheduled move, which added unnecessary stress to the process. Regardless of this, I would book them again, I would just be more careful with confirming information with several people and not trusting just one operator.
Hi,
Movers were good, but communication could have been much better. We received only 2/3s of our household goods, rest didn't fit on the truck, and we're not told that until the driver and assistant were about done unloading the truck.
It then took a few phone calls and emails to get someone to address this issue in Florida. We are STILL awaiting the delivery of the remaining items from our move.
I worked with Tom Berna at Berna Moving and Storage Moving from Illinois to Michigan. He was very accommodating and fair on pricing. Tom and his crew were impeccable and the move went on without a hitch. I would highly recommend Tom and his company for anyone considering a local or long distance move.
Thanks Tom!

Very good value. Movers were professional and friendly. Staff stayed in touch and let us know what the status of the move was. Generally things arrived in good shape, though there was a bit of damage partly due to several reloadings and some evidently rough handling. I would definitely use NVL again, but would pack a little more carefully/securely next time.
Mark was great. He had a good attitude and extremely impressive work ethic. The reason I give 4 not 5 stars is that on the pick up /packing of the truck his worker did not show up so he moved it all himself. He did not complain and got the job done. But due to the nature of moving large items solely by yourself it took longer and less attention was paid (as is the case if you are by yourself - not Mark's fault). Still, everything arrived and on time. In the future I would be more encouraged to u se National if they properly staffed their teams because ultimately this situation was least fair to Mark himself.
My initial impression was great and I it appeared that my move would be seamless and efficient. The communication at pickup was unclear and the date/time changed right up to last minute. My movers were not aware of the added stop and this frustrated them... Then my furniture sat for quite a while before I had a tentative delivery date, which was 4-5 days beyond the window.
Here to, the date and time changed right up to the last minute, actually arriving a day earlier, yet 4 days late.
My poin t is that these changes have a major impact on the coordination for proper access and availability.
This is especially difficult to manage when it involves elderly people who require additional assistance and the facilities that support that type of care.
I realize the logistics are complex, however this is specifically your business and should be able to dial in the schedule better - "we" move I frequently and rely on your expertise to manage the process. When it starts to feel haphazard or t hat "our" schedule is not as important, it is concerning and frustrating.
I was given a credit for the additional days it took to deliver, which is appreciated. However, at the end of the day, it is short lived and I would rather have felt like the schedule and our time was important vs me having to jump at a moment's notice when I get a call to meet them, regardless of what was planned even a day before.
It simply adds more stress and frustration to an already stressful situation.
The uncertainty of timing for pickup and dropoff was frustrating, inventory and labeling wasn't organized well so we had to hunt through some boxes to make sure I had everything ( I thought we had lost a very very expensive rug but found out it had been stuffed in with my tv), and I found out the next day that one of my chairs was broken during the move (I did not notice on day of move so signed it as no damage). However, the price was fantastic, and the people were all very nice, so I would sti ll recommend to my friends but with some disclaimers.
I was very impressed by the moving crew from the Greenbank location, Julius was very respectful and on top of the whole move. The unloading was less impressive. Julius was again very professional but the 3 men hired from Lewiston/Clarkston were unprofessional and did not handle my belongings with the same care and attention that the loading crew did. I told the Local representative in Oak Harbor if my concerns and felt supported and listened to. I would recommend Golden to other movers as I was overall 80% pleased with my move with them.
