The company provided very good service and hard working loaders and unloaders. We are satisfied with the quality of the work. However, we have unpacked ALL of the many boxes, and still have not found my high end toaster, and two favorite cooking pans. It seems remarkable that this one box was lost, considering that we were the only load in the truck!! Please advise!? Sales agent was a 10 out of 10 with "10" the highest score. Very effective in doing his job, and bent over backward until the contract was completed. Then, the agent assigned to our move was a 1 out of 10. She was based in Chicago, sent an introductory email, and she NEVER initiated a contact throughout the process. We had a number of very urgent issues with a very tight window to move out of our home in Reno. I reached out to her three times in two weeks for help and information. She would re spond with a generic response somewhat like "I will get back to you with an answer." On the first one, I waited 3 days and then reached out to Michael (sales rep) and he had an answer within a few hours. The 2nd and 3rd times, I got non-answer emails from Sandra (?) both times, I waited a shorter time each before calling Michael and he again responded with answers quickly each time. Sandra NEVER provided a single answer throughout. She was worthless and the only reason National didn't get 5 out of 5. The moving crew in Reno was also a 10 out of 10...very hard workers, excellent at their job, friendly and helpful going above and beyond at every phase of the move. They were equally service-oriented when they delivered our things in Arizona. There were a few damaged items but because of their collective efforts, we could not have been happier with the movers.

Overall an affordable service. The driver was on time for pick up and drop off. They took care with the vast majority of items. However, a driver plus 1 helper was not enough to move our home. Previously a team of 4 moved this house in 5 hours. On this occasion it took 12+ hours for the 2 person team. I dont blame the team for this, they worked as hard as they could. They just physically didnt have the right number of people.

There were some aspects of dealing with National Van Lines that deserve a 5-star review and some that don't, therefore we are giving a 4-star rating and we'll explain why, below. The initial virtual meeting and all correspondences with Sam Meredith were 5-star. He was professional and very nice to deal with which made us lean in favor of hiring National Van Lines. The day of the move, we were a little surprised to see a Golden Movers truck pull up rather than a National Van Lines truck. The driver and 3 movers were strong, friendly and hard-working. Only two of the original crew made the drive to our out-of-state move, and only one local mover was hired to unload our belongings. It probably would have worked better with 4 movers for the unloading into our new home because it led to some heavy lifting being done solo in the truck when two movers in the truck probably would have prevented some damage that occurred. We opted for the "Full Replacement Value Protection", which makes it sound like its name. We had a few things break, get damaged, and had a dent put into our brand new hardwood flooring, which we reported via your claim process. Here is the kicker - it was then that we were told that National Van Lines will not accept any claim for items that were PBO. We took tremendous care to bubble wrap, paper wrap, protect, cushion, and box all our belongings and always marked boxes containing fragile items, accordingly. Why is it automatically considered our fault fo r breakage? We put our belongings in National Van Lines' care and expected you to repair, replace or reimburse any damaged items, as Option 1 describes. This is the part that we completely disagree with. We understand things happen during a move, but we feel we were mislead with the assurance of everything being protected through the claim process, which clearly was not accurate. To add insult to injury, we were then informed that we could pay $300 for arbitration with a trucking group. Whi le we consider our move to have been "successful" for the most part (and why we are giving a 4-star rating), we feel bamboozled by the claim process. The total of those items comes to under $400, which is relatively low compared to the almost $9,000 charge from National Van Lines. We would appreciate National Van Lines' reconsideration of reimbursement for our PBO items, especially since we went to great lengths to prevent breakage or damages. Sincerely, Cathy & Kevin Vance

The moving experience went well, however the getting the estimate was not what I expected. Made the call and National set up an adjuster to come out and provide an estimate and then everything went wrong from there. The adjuster provided us an estimate that where happy with and excepted, however his boss and CEO of the company was not. They fired him and gave me a higher estimate that I was stuck with since I had no time to find another company to make the move for us since of our short time frame. The movers showed up on the day of the move and packed up a few items that had not packed and were done in 2 hours. I asked for a copy of the inventory sheet and was not given one until 2 days later. The truck took only 3 days to deliver our goods to Kansas from Oregon and that was fantastic. They estimated up to 3 weeks so 3 days was fantastic. The drivers unloaded our goods in 2 hours and only one item was damaged, however I couldnt claim it as someone had wrote the damage up on th e inventory sheet before they sent me a copy. All and all National did a great job, most of my issues came from the local moving company in Oregon that they contracted with.

The driver and movers were all great. It was mostly a very smooth experience. Unfortunately, my weight estimate was changed on me at the last minute by Michael Barrios, which forced me to have to reassess and sign the paperwork all over again. I tried to explain to him that his assessment of my move was too high, but he would not listen. This might not seem like a big deal, but it was a waste of my valuable time to have to deal with a flurry of emails and with Docusigning paperwork all over agai n in the midst of a move, working full time, and taking care of my family.

The mover was a pleasant man, when we agreed upon his price, we arranged for two days for him to pack the few things and load his truck..and then for him to drive to CT from NJ to deliver. I knew I needed extra time in NJ to prepare for his arrival, so I mentioned I would arrive in NJ the day before his first day. He then asked if he could come that day too, to begin packing. Thinking this would not interrupt my work, I agreed. When he arrived, however, he asked many questions, made a good deal of noise (I was working online line also), and set himself up where he was continually in the way of my daughter and myself. When he arrived with his packing crew the next day.. the day he was supposed to pack and load, I told him I was not pleased with his interruptions the previous day. He took offense and appeared to be less enthusiastic about this job. It made me uncomfortable that he would have many valuable things in his care. The following day he met us at the storage fac ility to deliver my things in CT. There was just one other man to help him which fortunately for him he had no stairs, elevators or wait to pack the things 8n a garage-like space. In addition, when he priced this job, it included a 7 foot designer sofa. I alerted him after I agreed to his price of my deleting this large and heavy item. When he arrived the first day, I asked him if he would re-price the job and he said, no. I am glad my things arrived in CT. He was satisfactory in that regard, however I felt quite nervous the whole time and dismayed over the price. I tipped him low due to this.

Booking agent discussed all aspects of packing. Are loading and unloading was completed as scheduled per Carlos. Both of us were concerned with the speed of one of the young men loading and unloading. Luckily no damage was done. At the completion there was an item missing. It was a Little Giant 3 step ladder. It was ordered and received but it was only a 2 step ladder which we did accept. We would use all agents and would recommend all to others

Setting up our move was very easy and everything went smoothly. The cost was cheaper than other quotes received I wasnt informed at the outset that it could take 2 weeks for our shipment to arrive, however ours ended up coming directly to us and arrived within hours of our own arrival. The two movers that arrived with our things were very courteous and worked hard to get everything where we wanted it. I would have liked to see more wrappings on our furniture, especially our wood antique p ieces that were only given a simple Seran wrap and nothing done to protect the corners. Because of this we do have some damage done to several pieces. Overall a positive experience and we would use their services again with a few changes.

Michael Hartung was great to work with. He was always responsive throughout the process and quickly returned calls and fielded all questions. The move itself was not as smooth. On the front end the move was delayed when it was realized that there was a weight limit on the bridges leading to our home and that they needed to find trucks. The person who I assumed was going to be the driver was not the driver when the furniture arrived. I thought that information of the timing of receipt of i nformation about when the truck would arrive could have been better. I was told the truck would arrive at 9 am. When 11 rolled around I called asking the status and was informed he would be 4 hours late. I thought I should have been informed not me asking. The driver would not back down the street, so the crew was one house away and had to bring the furniture through the yard. There was only one member of the crew who spoke some English. He stayed on the truck. This required me to be outsid e and direct where items should go even though boxes were marked. We had a language barrier. The move finished in the dark. My son pointed out there was still a piece of furniture laying in the street as the crew was wrapping up. The piece was damaged. I found three ladders lying in alongside of the road. One was the drivers. As I said, it was dark and could not see in the truck. Over the following two days I found we were missing three items. They were found in the truck in Georgia. I was told they would be on a truck going to W. Virginia on the 26th of December. I called and left a message on the 30th asking the status. These items will now be here around the 15th. Once again, I thought that the company should have been more proactive in keeping me up to date. An example of how damage could have been avoided is our upright freezer. The 8-month-old upright freezer has a crease in the door and place where the skin is missing, and you can see insulation. When the crew m ember was bringing the freezer in the banket had been removed and the door was against the dolly.

The upfront was great. Fantastic communication. On the backend, the driver was by himself and needed my brothers assistance to move the furniture from the truck into the house. This was not the plan. But other than that everything was painless.

Scheduling was very flexible. Packing and unpacking was well done. Would have been better to have had a third person packing in Charlotte like we had unpacking in Birmingham.
