For Immediate Release
Broadview, IL Oct. 15, 2018—National Van Lines President & COO Tim Helenthal will serve a second term as Chairman of the International Association of Movers.
Tim’s re-election occurred Oct. 8 during IAM’s 56th Annual Meeting & Expo in National Harbor, MD.
Beginning in 2011, Tim served as a member-at-large on the IAM board. He was elected IAM Vice-Chairman in 2014, serving three consecutive years. Committed to serving the industry, Tim also serves as a member of the Government Traffic Committee and on the Board of Directors for the American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA).
“I am pleased that Tim—and the entire IAM Executive Committee—were re-elected for their respective positions,” IAM President Terry Head said. “After serving 21 years, I will be stepping down as IAM’s President at the end of the year. Therefore, I feel very comfortable knowing that I leave the association in the capable hands of Tim and my successor Charles (Chuck) White, IAM’s Senior Vice President. I have no doubt that under Tim’s and Chuck’s leadership, IAM will continue to grow and deliver value to the membership as it has consistently done so over its 56-year history.”
IAM officers consist of a Chair (who serves as Secretary and Treasurer), Vice Chair, four Members-at-Large and a paid President. Founded more than 50 years ago, IAM is a global association of movers and forwarders committed to providing customers with the highest level of service. IAM has a worldwide membership of more than 2,000 companies among 170+ countries and territories.
Tim began his moving-and-storage industry career in 1994 with National Forwarding Co. (the sister company of National Van Lines, Inc.) where he served 18 years as Vice President of Agency Service before being promoted to President & COO of National Van Lines, Inc. in 2013.
Tim’s many accolades include:
2012–2013: Chairman of the National Defense Transportation Association’s Household Goods Sub-Committee
2013–2016: Member of the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command Surface Transportation Executive Working Group
2017: Board of Directors member for the American Moving & Storage Association
